Zoodles with Spinach and Tomato Sauce


Do you know that you can prepare Zoodles like a spaghetti?

This time, instead of eating raw zoodles, we boiled them and topped it with delicious spinach suace. The taste was very good and now its time to share with you all.


Cooking Time: 3mins for zoodles, 20 mins for sauce preps.

Level: Easy – serves 2


  • 300 gr of frozen spinach
  • 2 big zucchinis
  • 1 little onion / finely chopped
  • 1 cup of tomato sauce ( if you are using a tomato paste, then you need to add 1/2 cup of water)
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 1 bunch of fresh basil
  • 1 teaspoon of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of  cumin
  • 2 tablespoon of olive oil
  • Salt & black pepper
  • Water , if needed

For this recipe you need a spiral food slicer.

Start with the sauce.

Take a pan,  heat the olive oil and add the chopped onions, saute for 2 mins then add the frozen spinach, garlic. Once the spinach is smoother, then add the tomato sauce, cumin, sugar. Reduce heat to low, stir well and simmer for 15 mins. Sometimes in this stage you need to add little bit of water in order to boil the sauce.

Once the sauce is done, taste it and add salt & pepper according to your taste.

Now its time to prepare the zoodles.

Clean the zucchinis, and cut them with a spiral veggie slicer.

Take a deep pan, but some water and bring it to boil, than add the zoodles.

In our experience we boiled the zoodles for 3 mins and it tasted very good.

Once the zoodles are ready strain them and use the sauce to top your cooked zoodles!

As you can see on the picture, we topped it with some fresh basil & tomatoes.
