Red Lentil Soup with Ginger, Turmeric and Chilli


The weather in Zurich is still cold and I deal with this cold weather by cooking some delicious soup!

I like this soup recipe cause it contains so many spices and very good for your health! If you also like soup, then you should try my special red lentil soup recipe!

  • 1 cup of cleaned red lentils
  • 2 medium size potatoes ( cut them into cubes)
  • 1tbs of butter
  • 1 medium chopped onion
  • 4 glasses of water
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 1 coffee spoon of Turmeric powder
  • Freshly chopped ginger & red chilli pepper ( add them according to your taste)
  • Salt & Pepper

Cooking Time: 20 mins

Level: Easy, 4 Person

Take a deep pan and add onions, garlic & butter. Stir them until the onions and garlic become pink.

After, add the red lentils, potatoes and salt&pepper and bring to a boil, reduce the heat and simmer for 15- 20 mins. Once all the ingredients are cooked, then take a food processor or a blender and process until it becomes smooth. Then pour the soup in a pot, add turmeric, chilli and let it cook 5 min more. Taste your soup and if it is necessary adjust the salt & pepper. You can also serve this soup with lemons.
