Gratin de Crozet Savoyard

Sundays are our cooking day with my husband. We love to try new recipes and spend a little time Saturday to decide what to cook for Sunday.

This weekend we wanted to cook a typical Savoyard dish that is called: Les crozets aux chanterelles!

It was my first time to try this dish and i can say that it was very easy to cook and tasted good.

We bought the basic ingredient (see the picture below) from France. So it will be quite difficult to find it in Zurich but if you find the crozets in Zurich please let me know where we can buy it.

This is a typical Savoyard dish that preferably be eaten during winter time. As the weather is getting cold – I am freezing in Zurich 🙂 – you may enjoy this dish a lot!

To make the long story short, let’s check the ingredients:

  • 1 pocket of Crozets aux chanterelles
  • 1 cube of chicken Stock
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 1 pocket of grated Gruyere cheese (250 gr – you can add more according to your taste)
  • 1 table spoon of butter
  • 5 table spoon of fresh creme
  • 200 gr of Mushroom (you can add more according to your taste)
  • 1 litre of water
  • Salt & Pepper
  • First boil 1 litre of water by adding a tea spoon of salt. Once it boils then add the Crozets, make them cook during 15 min.

Meanwhile, Preheat the oven at 200C.

While Crozets are boiling, cut the onions, mushrooms and garlic into small cubes and cook them with butter until they become pink. Then add the cream & black pepper and let them cook during 3-4 mins.

Check the crozets, if they are cooked then drain them and put the half of the Crozets in to the cooking plate, covered it with half packet of the grated gruyere cheese. Add the rest of the Crozet and put the onion & creme mixture onto it. Finalise the dish by adding the rest of the gruyere cheese.

Place the dish into the oven and let it cook until it becomes brown. Don’t forget to check the oven because every oven has different time to cook 🙂

Bon Appétit!
