Mezze Night!

IMG_2657

This is my first summer in Zurich and so far  we hadn’t real summer in here! For me summer means mezze, cold dishes, sun, beach and cherries..  In Zurich the wether is quite interesting.. During the day the temperature changes a lot even the accuweather.com or swissweather sites can not really estimate what the weather will be:) but the only thing you can estimate is if it’s really hot in the morning, than you will have a huge rain at night..

So last night was exactly like that.. We had lots of rain… Against to that bad weather we wanted to create Mediterranean ambiance at our house 🙂 so we did mezze night! It was my first time to cook mezze and it was so sooo delicious and I wanted to share the recipe with you. You will see it’s very easy to cook them.

First, we start with feta & eggplant mezze!

Cooking Time: 30min ( to grill vegetables) and 2min to make mezze!

Level: Easy  – for 2 or 3 person

To cook the mezze you will need a mixer!

  • One medium egg plant
  • 50 gr of feta cheese
  • Salt & pepper
  • 1 table spoon of olive oil
  • 1 medium garlic clove

The most important part of this recipe is to grill the eggplants. The best is you can grill them on the BBQ or if you don’t have BBQ you may use your oven’s grill.

Tip: When we do BBQ at home I always grill some eggplants and after cleaning it’s skin I put them in the freezer. So like this you will have always grilled and prepared eggplants in the refrigerator 🙂 once you need them it’s always easy to use it!

Grill your eggplants during 30 min – this time can change according to your eggplants and your grill so keep always eye on your eggplants 🙂 and once they are really brown and soft it’s means that they are cooked. If you see that they are still little bit hard, continue to grill them 🙂

Once it’s cooked, peel its skin and cut the stem of the eggplant and put it in to the mixer with garlic, feta, olive oil and salt & pepper.  Mixed them until all the ingredients become little and then taste it 🙂 if it needs more spices and then add them. That’s it! You cooked a delicious mezze !!
Red pepper & Feta mezze

  • 3 medium long red peppers
  • 1 medium garlic clove
  • 50gr of feta cheese
  • Salt & pepper
  • 1 table spoon of Olive oil

The process is same as eggplant mezze! Grill you red peppers, peel its skin and mixed them with the rest of your ingredients. And enjoy it 🙂

Salmon & Spring Onion Mezze

  • Smoked salmon – 150 gr
  • 1 small spring onion
  • Half lemon juice
  • 2 table spoon of balsamic vinegar
  • Salt & pepper / according to your taste 🙂

So this one is our last mezze 🙂

I used smoked salmon from migros and it was delicious and it’s only for 4.50chf! Take your mixer and put salmon, onions, lemon juice and balsamic. Mixed them until they become well sliced. Here you can prepare them according to your taste. So if you don’t like sour taste put less lemon juice.

Yep! As you see it is so easy to prepare fresh mezze at home! You can eat them with bread or the best is with Lebanese bread that you can find in stores.

Bon appetite !!

  1. Hi, thanks a lot for the recipes, they all seem delicious! I also live in Zurich and I’m very much into Lebanese cuisine. Could you please tell me where exactly I can find the Lebanese bread? P.S. I’m also from Turkey but writing in English in case someone else has a similar question. Sevgiler 🙂
